AboutยทIndependent research

An independent researcher of complex systems.

I came to these questions from outside the academy, which means I am not bound to any single field. That turns out to matter more than it sounds. The thing that holds a living cell together, the thing that keeps a person continuous while every atom in them is replaced, the thing a mind is built on, all of it starts to look like one structure seen from different distances.

Most people who ask questions this large do it on paper alone. Most people who build working models stay away from questions this large. The work here sits in between. The aim is to take a question that sounds purely philosophical, make it precise enough to break, and then actually try to break it, not only by argument but on reproducible computational models that either survive the test or do not.

I am not claiming a theory of everything. I am following a suspicion I cannot shake, that the same connective logic runs through life, mind and matter, and seeing how far it holds before it fails.

Written alone, as the work moves. The essays are the record.
